Traditional Medicine and the Government: Policy-making in post-colonial India (1947-1963)

This article reviews government policy making in India from 1947-1963 with the intent to look at the position of the traditional system of medicine in a twenty years‟ framework after independence. We shall look at the historical background of the thought process on traditional medicine before independence followed by an analysis of the post-independence policies and government recommendations.
