Since the 1990s, civil society has emerged as one of the most important „trans-disciplinary‟ terms to understand and uphold the tendency of spontaneous popular protest, and bringing in a collective change in mass consciousness. But the meaning of civil society is riddled with contradictions‟ and that is the reason why it remains open to diverse interpretations over time.
