I received my Doctorate from Banaras Hindu University under the theme “The Position of Daughter in Ancient India from the Vedic Period to the Gupta Period”
Since December, 2008, I had been associated with Jadavpur University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History.
My main area of research interest has always been social history of Ancient India with special focus on Women in History. Other areas of interest include Ancient Indian Art and Architecture; Environmental thought and Practices in Ancient India.
I am currently involved in teaching Medieval India covering 1206-1526 (UG) and History of Indian Culture till 12th century and Themes on Early Indian Society and Religion till13th Century at the PG level. I have also been assigned the task of teaching a part of Social History of Science and Technology in the Pre Colonial period of India.
