I joined Jadavpur University as Lecturer in History in December 2005. Prior to this, I taught in the same capacity in Saheed Nurul Islam Mahavidyalaya (August 2003-February 2005) under Calcutta University and the Department of History, University of Burdwan (March 2005-November 2005). After passing my undergraduate course from Presidency College, I went to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi to pursue my postgraduate studies. I received the degrees of M. Phil and PhD from the same university. I have worked upon the emergence of the social category of ‘women authors’ in nineteenth century Bengal.
My research Interests are in Gender Studies in 19th and 20th century Bengal/ Socio-cultural History of Bengal/ Modern India
I teach History of Modern India (1885-1950), Colonialism and Nationalism in India, >Modern Europe 1919-1945, Life and Thought in Bengal – 19th and 20thCenturies and Modern Indian Political Thought: Liberalism and Idealism.
