After completing BA in History from Presidency College, Calcutta, I went on to complete MA in History from the University of Calcutta. My doctoral dissertation titled The Literary Public Sphere in Bengal: Aesthetics, Culture and Politics, 1905 – 1939 was completed from Syracuse University. Before joining Jadavpur University in 2011, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta.

My area of interest in research are Social and cultural histories of nineteenth and early twentieth Bengal; histories of print culture, readerships and consumption
