Hi this is Samir Das, Assistant Professor in History, Jadavpur University. I have been discharging the duties entrusted to me since joining the department of History on February 12, 2008 Nevertheless, the University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, fortunately happens to mine the alma mater wherefrom I took my M.A degree in 2005 securing the first class-second position in its final examination and in reward, I was awarded the University Gold-Medal by the then Governor of West Bengal, Sri Gopal Krishna Gandhi. I qualified both the NET (December, 2005) and SLET (February, 2006) as well. As early as 2007, I joined the department of History, North Bengal University, as J.R.F and held this position for few months leading finally to my being the permanent faculty member of Jadavpur University. Although, I am at present on Study Leave to pursue the proposed Ph.D. work under the University of North Bengal and expecting to join the department (of J.U) by mid-July,2013. So far I have participated and presented lectures & papers in different national and international seminars took place in and outside West Bengal. However, the area of my interest ranges from the Early Indian socio-religious –cultural and architectural history to Medieval Bengal`s socio-economic-political and cultural history to Modern and Post Modern Bengal nay India`s history(s) relating to caste, gender, subalternity and ethnic identities etc.
